OBSERVATIONS

The resemblance to a cog mechanism such as that which exists on a gear wheel (MIA016.4) is very strong. The fact also that crinoid fossils can also resemble such a shape (MIA016.3) should be noted.

POTENTIAL FOR AN ARTIFICIAL OBJECT

Regular, equally-spaced and sized spokes protruding from a circular rim. Circular centre. No object of similar character in the vicinity suggesting uniqueness.

COMMON EXPLANATION

Optical illusion. Ventifact.
